It is my pleasure to Chair the Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre and on behalf of the Board of Trustees , we thank His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of the Emirate of Dubai for the appointment.

EMAC's first term has received a warm welcome from the maritime cluster in the United Arab Emirates and around the world.  Since November of 2016, the Centre's awareness campaign has remained intensive through multiple seminars, company visits, international meetings and participation at conferences.  This activity has encouraged a strong base for membership and a panel of arbitrators, mediators and experts with worldwide expertise and recognition.

Our connection with maritime and arbitration bodies worldwide has resulted in collaborations that are to the benefit of all our stakeholders.

Looking ahead, the strategy at EMAC is to continue enhancing services in alternative disputes resolution for the maritime sector and to provide a platform where stakeholders can share ideas, opinions and knowledge.

I am happy with the degree of engagement and communication between the Centre and the maritime cluster and hope to see this continue.

Majid bin Bashir
